Living in Milan

Museums

There are many museums in Milan and we would suggest to have a look at www.comune.milano.it (section “cultura” – “musei e mostre”).

Let us mention just two of them:

Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia “Leonardo da Vinci”, via San Vittore 21 – tel. 02485551. Open Tuesday-Friday 9.30 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday and public holidays 9.30 a.m. – 6.30 p.m. Info: www.museoscienza.org – info@museoscienza.it

Il Civico Planetario “Ulrico Hoepli”: the planetarium is a projector that reproduces the past, present and future appearance of the starry sky observable from any part of the Earth.

The planetarium equipment is located in the centre of a room surmounted by a hemispherical dome which acts as a projection screen. A multimedia system enables images, shooting stars and animations to be shown.

Location: Corso Venezia 57 (inside the “Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli”) – tel. 0288463340.

Until Expo 2015, the Atlantic Codex collection of drawings by Leonardo da Vinci will be on display in the Bramante sacristy in the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, and in the Federiciana Room in the Ambrosiana Library. Every three months the drawings in the exhibition will be replaced in order to bring to the public the entire collection of 1,119 pages on military architecture.

Cinema

Going to the cinema is a popular leisure activity in Milan, as evidenced by the number of  multiplexes which offer the most recent films in Italian.

Tickets (7.50 euro) can be purchased on the spot, either just before the “projection” or in advance by paying a supplement of 1 euro. They may also be booked via the web without extra charge.
