For foreign nationals, whether or not they are members of the European Community, registration with the National Health Service (SSN – “Servizio Sanitario Nazionale”) guarantees the entire healthcare provided for under the Italian system and affords them the same rights of treatment as Italian citizens regarding contributory obligations, healthcare provided in Italy by the SSN, and its time limit.
