Welcome
- foreign nationals who hold a permit to stay who are in legal subordinate employment or are self-employed or are registered with the employment exchange;
- foreign nationals who legally reside in Italy or who have applied for a renewal of the permit to stay, for subordinate employment, for family reasons, asylum, pending asylum procedures, pending adoption procedures, waiting to be granted custody, acquisition of citizenship or on religious grounds;
- dependent family members (legally resident) of foreign national citizens who fall within the above categories.
- Those foreign national citizens who do not fall within the above-mentioned categories have no obligation to register with the SSN, even though they must be insured against the risk of illness, accident and maternity by means of an insurance policy valid in Italy. This also applies to dependent family members.
